BIOGRAPHY
Hussein Marei has over 20 years of experience in corporate, mergers & acquisitions and capital markets.
His career kicked off at Baker & McKenzie advising on general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions and capital market transactions. In 2005, he joined Orascom Construction Industries as Group General Counsel providing legal support on significant M&A transactions, corporate restructuring and listings across Egypt, Middle East and Europe.
In 2008, he was the lead lawyer representing the Group in the largest M&A transaction in Egypt, which was heralded at a pioneering transaction in the Egyptian market and rated in 2010 by IFLR as the Best M&A Deal of the Year in the Middle East. He also worked for the Group UK headquarters in London and advised on the Group’s landmark demerger that resulted in two entities listed in the Netherlands Stock Exchange and the UAE’s Nasdaq.
In 2019, Hussein also acted as General Counsel and board secretary for the ADNOC/OCI Joint Venture Fertiglobe in Abu Dhabi, resulting in the world’s largest exporter of nitrogen fertilizers.
